Ground Zero

On September 11, 2001, MA-TF 1 deployed to the World Trade Center as a Type 1 Urban Search & Rescue Task Force. For the next seven days, the men, women, and canines of Mass Task Force worked around the clock. We will periodically update this site with rememberences of that response and examples of how MA-TF 1 has evolved since then. Also, please visit our main web site at www.matf.org.

We Will Never Forget

Those that perished in the collapse of the World Trade Center: Nearly 3,000 civilians, 343 firefighters from FDNY, 60 police officers from NYPD, NYPD ESU and NY Port Authority, 8 private EMT and paramedics, 92 passengers and crew aboard American Airlines flight 11, and 65 passengers and crew aboard United Airlines flight 175.

The Pentagon and United Flight 93

Our fellow US&R brothers and sisters responded to the attack on the Pentagon. All 64 passengers and crew aboard American Flight 77 perished when it struck the Pentagon, killing 125 people inside. May we also never forget the 44 passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93 who were killed when then plane crashed in Shanksville, PA.
