Massachusetts Task Force 1 participated in Vigilant Guard 2012, held from July 30 – August 2, 2012. This exercise brought together numerous public safety and Homeland Security elements including the Rhode Island Disaster Medical Assistance Team, the Rhode Island Urban Search and Rescue team, Connecticut state resources, National Guard CERFP units, the Environmental Protection Agency, and numerous other state and local public safety agencies. This four-day exercise enabled disparate groups with similar and complementary missions and abilities to practice working as integrated teams. More than 1,100 personnel and civilian role players participated in this valuable event.
